The New Avengers were left on the destroyed streets of New York unaware of what to do. The heroes had been fighting when all of a sudden their foes all mysteriously disappeared. They were left dumbfounded and alone, except for each other. The heroes returned to S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters and have been stuck there ever since. Our team never got along very well before that mission had happened; but being forced to stay in a condensed space for five months together without seeing anything on the outside except what they could catch on the S.H.I.E.L.D. monitors? They are at odds with each other, trying to cope with their inner rage while not getting kicked out of the New Avengers Initiative. Their lives were chaotic when they had to spend training sessions together, but every minute of everyday?

That means all hell will break loose.

Despite their best efforts to regain the trust of the world, the Avengers are still met with criticism. With every move they make under close scrutiny, they find themselves treading lightly to avoid more incidents akin to Ultron and the tragedy of Sokovia. When a new team of superheroes is entangled in disaster and an Avengers mission goes wrong, the government steps in with new legislation that would force all superheroes to register, and be overseen, by the government. Eager to right the wrongs of his past, Tony Stark is quick to join the government's efforts, believing that oversight will ensure that more disasters do not happen at the hands of the Avengers or any other super-powered individuals. In opposition of this is Steve Rogers, who believes that government oversight would enable politicians to decide who the villains are, forcing superheroes to become nothing more than political pawns. When the King of Wakanda is assassinated and Steve's old friend turned enemy, Winter Soldier, is implicated things become even more complicated. Forced to choose a side in a civil war, Dean Allen can't stop thinking about a far greater threat that lurks. Please note that this is an installment in an ongoing series. Reading out of order may cause confusion. The reading order for the series is: -Worthy -Avengers: Some Assembly Required -Love You to Asgard and Back -Eternal Night -Avengers: Peace in Our Time -Avengers: More Than a Mortal -Fantastic Four -Avengers: Divided We Fall -Asgardian Twilight -Avengers: Destiny Arrives -Captain America: Love in a Time of Loss -Avengers: Whatever It Takes -Avengers: A Wedding At Last -Avengers: Vengeance -Avengers: A Darker Shade of Scarlet

After returning from Asgard, S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Dean Allen stays busy to keep his mind off of wondering when Thor will return. But when a very familiar enemy arrives on earth and steals an object of vast comic power, the safety of the earth is challenged. Loki's aspiration to enslave earth with an army from the far reaches of space spurs S.H.I.E.L.D. to enact the Avengers Initiative. But will this team come together...or be torn apart? Note: this is a reimagining of the first Avengers film. While there will definitely be a lot of similarities between this work and the film, there will also be departures. I've done my best to maintain the general spirit of the film while also putting a spin on things to keep it interesting. Also, Thor and the main character are in a homosexual relationship. If that's not your thing consider this a heads up. I do not own any of the Marvel Comics characters, just the original characters created for this story. In this alternate universe, Loki is sent to Midgard after the fight over the Aether. The Avengers question the Allfather's sanity, but agree they would rather have Loki where they can keep an eye on him. So, after some extensive remodeling, the Avengers Tower and neighboring facilities are now an extensive training ground with everything they'll need to reform the once proud Asgardian prince. Thor is hopeful. He wants the brother he thought Loki was back. Clint (Hawkeye) is waiting for a reason to exact some much deserved revenge. Steve (Captain America) has hope that even the most hardened of evil doers can be changed for the better. No one quite knows what Natasha (Black Widow) is thinking. Tony (Iron Man) resents having to share his tower with a psychopath. Bruce (Hulk) did not fly away to Sakar. He's brooding away in his own private wing. Scott (Antman) is under house arrest... at the tower. Wanda (Scarlet Witch) is still mourning her brother while nurturing a still very naive Vision. (Neither are living in the tower. Will only play small, fleeting parts in this story.) Dr Strange refuses to move into the tower. After all, it is more important to keep up with his work at the Sanctum. Peter (Spiderman) is spending his summer at the Tower, much to the dismay of Aunt May, who knows how dangerous this is, but does not know Loki has returned. Sam (Falcon) will follow Cap to the ends of the earth, but refuses to jump off the proverbial bridge just because Cap's doing it. Bucky (Winter Soldier) is trying to atone for his past misdeeds, while learning what exactly they were, but is living in Wakanda with T-challa (Black Panther) so neither will be playing a large role in this story. Then there's Aite. She's new. She's the Greek goddess of mischief, delusion, folly, and ruin. You'd think her and Loki would be the best of friends... Not so much.

Winter Soldier (Book One)

News of Hydra's infiltration spread through the headlines like a virus, reaching even the most remote of places. No one ever thought that S.H.I.E.L.D., a once world renowned government protection group, would become a crumbling pile of ash and glass. With the Winter Soldier now faded into the crowd, no one knows where he is, no one can find him. He's the ghost everyone thought was a myth. But when he finds himself on the shore of the bay, injured and alone, a woman finds it in herself to show him the mercy he deserved. But now the wanted fugitive, and the woman now tagged on as an accomplice, are both wanted by Hydra and previous S.H.I.E.L.D. officers seeking out revenge and the weapon they helped to build. The Winter Soldier will stop at nothing to find out the truth, who he was and save the life of the stranger.
