"I couldn't really miss this train, and if I had I would have nothing to tell... I hope it goes well for you. But for me, it just can't."

Windows is an essay on the basics of the narrative. You may read it two ways: first you may be tempted to read it like a novel (chapter 1, chapter 2, ...), or you can choose to read it like a reading list (story 1, story 2, ...). But here I am offering you the choice to read it at random. Why not start in the middle, skip to the end and then come back to the climax for the grand finale? What's the point of reading a story in three acts? Why not five? Why not ten?
