"...Don't show that you cared about my happiness, when you actually didn't. I doubt if you ever truly did care." I whispered the last part menacingly at him, clenching my jaw as my eyes filled with tears. The way his face hardened and his eyes dilated, I assumed he heard me as a muscle in his jaw ticked. I lowered my pointing finger and wiped my tears furiously from the back of my hand, looking away. "It's good that you got to know about everything before this marriage facade got out of our hands. Now, you'll realize that you never had any feelings for me and it was just an infatuation." He scoffed, looking away. His adam's apple bobbed as his veins popped out lividly. "Don't you dare insult my love, Wali! My love for you was so pure. You know what? You don't even deserve it." I told him, swallowing the lump in my throat. My voice came out harsh as my breath grew thin and ragged. I tried to control myself, reminding there were people in this house. Ya Allah, who was this man standing in front of me? ----- Meet Wali Rehman Khan and Aleyha Shaikh. They both grew up together, they were cousins by fate but best friends by choice. Wali had always been overprotective of her and deeply cares for her, fulfilling her every demand. She thought he loves her the way she loves him but how can he love when he hates even the thought of love? She had believed he would always be there for her but how wrong she was! He left and was back after five painful years. She no longer was the same teenager he last saw or knew, she had changed and changed for good. But still, around him, she didn't know how to feel. She tried but her heart was no longer in her control and she paid a heavy cost due to that. Was the payment worth it? Was it all along Allah's plan? -------------

"You left me here alone... can't you see I'm almost blind now?" she said, frustration lacing her voice. Still, no response. "Are you even listening to me? He could be here any time, and I'm not ready yet. What will he say after seeing me like this?" she kept blabbering. She paused, startled by a deep chuckle. Her breath hitched. Wait... why does that laugh sound so manly? She froze the moment she felt a warm breath fan across her face. "Yahi ke kitni pyaari lag rahi hai meri begum," came his husky voice. (That how pretty my wife is looking) "You-u?" she whispered, stunned. She tried to open her eyes, but he gently stopped her. "Don't open them yet. Your eyeliner's still wet," he said. She nodded silently. Goosebumps broke across her skin as she felt him leaning closer, his breath brushing over her eyelids. "W-what a-are you d-doing?" she stammered. "Drying your eyeliner," he replied casually and continued. She squeezed her eyes shut, unable to handle his nearness. "Sarauniya!" I said almost loudly but not enough for my friend Bilal to hear, "who is she?" "Aaliyah. She's the late Alhaji Mujib's daughter. " Bilal said seeming uninterested with the topic. "Ina gidan su?" I asked, sounding a bit like a crazy stalker. "Ka kamu da ciwon so ko?" He asked as a smile spreads across his face, "They live in Asokoro district. Remember Aunty Shamsiyya? The place isn't far from your habibty's home too." "Ok, thank you. Allah ya maka albarka." "Let me know when to be expecting an invitation card." Hamza said while trying to stifle his laughter but fails woefully and I smack him on his arm as payback, joining him to laugh too. I wanted to follow her and speak to her but I heard the music start, signaling the commencement of Bilal's cousin Nadiya and her groom; Saleem's overpriced dinner party for both families. #WattysNG2020 **** This is Aaliyah's story from grass to grace as she faces obstacles created by her aunt who has done nothing but torture her since her parents death. Maheen and Hasan met when they were kids- young, naïve, and hopeful about the world. Just when their story begins, they're separated by tragedy and pain. But as fate would have it, they were meant to meet again. Years later, now all grown up, they meet again suddenly at work and old feelings resurface. Maheen is an open book. She says what she feels and wears her heart on her sleeve. She's always laughing, the personification of a bright sunny day. In her mind, she's the main character of her own Bollywood movie. She doesn't care what anyone has to say about her. She's already heard the worst. Hasan is her complete opposite. He's always been quiet and shy, and has only become more serious and business-like as the years go on. He may have a hard exterior, but Maheen's re-entry in his life is starting to remind him of who he once was. Maheen never misses an opportunity to make Hasan flustered, with her constant teasing and playful pestering. Hasan- the forever gentlemen- does not give in to her innocent flirting and keeps everything very professional. Or at least he tries very hard to. Between the secret glances over cubicles, and passing jokes after staff meetings, maybe their friendship was once again turning into something more. Will they let their hearts lead them this time, or will they let the world interrupt their story again...This is their last first chance. Spinoff of Al-Ameen Family series (Continues after Naina): 1. "Are you running away from me?" A playful voice made me stop in my tracks. My heart thudded in alarm, and I had to remind myself that we were in school, with multiple witnesses around us. He couldn't harm me here. I turned around with a glare, but the second I looked at his face, my courage crumbled.
The memory of him threatening to snap my neck if I reported him and his crew hit me like a brick. Swallowing my fear, I met his eyes. "Weren't you the one who told me to stay away from trouble?" A crooked grin tugged at his lips and he brought his face closer. "Yeah. But looks like trouble doesn't want to stay away from you." I blinked.
What? *** [muslim girl x bad boy] Bareera Omar, a.k.a Rory, thought junior year's biggest challenge would be adjusting to life and dealing with how people treated her now that she'd chosen to openly embrace her Muslim identity, and started wearing the hijab. What she didn't expect, however, was to get tangled up with Romero Allen - her school's infamous senior and the walking definition of trouble. One moment, he's bullying her.
The next, he's scaring off the guys who try to mess with her. They don't consider each other friends.
But calling them enemies doesn't quite fit either. Maybe they're something in between. Something along the lines of 'frenemies'. *** "So what do you want us to be? We can't be both. Either we're friends or we're enemies." "Lovers." #1 in stereotypes #1 in goodgirl #1 in badboygoodgirl
