Magic is something that cannot be done alone. Luckily for Emory, he is not by himself. The boy had so much going for him, until his father said something stupid. Now, he's stuck delivering letters for wizards, but at least no harm could come to him in this profession, unless, he too, does something stupid. Lexi "Charm" Hayden: a pirate and a ghost. An excellent fighter, sailor and talker, she and her crew were ready to take on the world. Things changed when the world took on them. A monster, blacker than night, destroyed everything she knew. Revenge must be sought and there is only one person she could go to. Too bad that person hates ghosts. A monster hunter with swift feet, the infamous Luion Vaux has killed creatures of all sizes-well, all smaller than a dragon. After noticing a change in a stone monster's behavior, Luion encounters a small girl carrying a dragon's fang. This only means one thing: the return of dragons and no amount of gunpowder or bullets will stop the beasts. A wizard with a bold plan, a myth becomes reality and a war across seas: the world of Narret is getting smaller and smaller.

Amos University is a prestigious institute with a thousand years of history. Mage families send their sons to Amos to learn their craft, make connections with other families, and prepare for their future. Mixing magic and young men promises that no one year is boring. Club rivalries, hazing, and missed assignments can become a matter of life and death. But underneath it all there are predictable variables, controls placed over the students to prevent certain apocalyptic type events from happening. There are natural laws to magic which no mage can change or cross. Such as: all mages are male. In body or soul, every mage is male. Until Naena. A bastard from the Western Cape, Naena has spent the previous three years living on the streets. She is uneducated and lacking in certain social niceties. Her mother was once a maid to a mage family, learning a coded language as a young mage in the house did, but nothing else is known about the woman except her name. The men who find Naena are determined to keep her alive long enough to find out what her appearance means. The students are both wary and intrigued. While the faculty are forced to take on the first female mage in the history of the world, nothing says they need to help her with her studies. Or to stay alive.
