A young girl living on the outskirts of a small agricultural town, Penelope Grace is an outcast from the local children, who label her as unusual and freakish. Finding small comfort from her loneliness by caring for the animals on her mother's farm, all she wishes is for everyone to see her as normal. When a new boy arrives in town, she must come to grips with what it takes to be accepted, and how to survive when the world's expectations leave you trapped.
