Opposites Attract
Based off a prompt on Tumblr: "I want a superhero series where they have powers that 100% contradict their personalities". Molly grew up as a fisherman's daughter in a village by the ocean, so naturally, it was a surprise to her and those around her when she acquired fire powers. Everyone around her had some sort of magic, but they all were compatible with who they were. Molly's mother had died in a fire for Aglea's sake! (Note: Aglea is a goddess who's name just happens to resemble a Greek goddess. They're very different.) Jax was the son of a rich blacksmith, who shocked everyone by developing water powers, and strong ones at that. When the two meet, they go on a journey to save Molly's village from a witch who wants their magic for her own. If they can't stop her, her icy grip will smother the world. Will something other than friendship develop over this trip? Only time will tell. (I don't own the cover image if you know who it belongs to, tell me so I can credit them. Also, you have no idea how tempting it was to put Fire Boy and Water Girl as the cover. I mean, reversed genders, but still.) In a futuristic world, the residents have no say. From birth, they are monitored and chosen for the jobs within society. Some have more potential than others and are selected by the Elders before they start their formal schooling to fulfill prestigious positions after graduation. These students train together in a special facility and are respected by the society. Belle and Derek both hold those prestigious positions. Belle as an Agent and Derek as the Executioner. They've been accused and tried for the murder of a respected Agent. A murder that they did not commit. Now, they are thrust into the experimental punishment that is the Ki'i. The convicted are thrust into an enclosed area and left there until only one remains alive. The last one standing gains his or her freedom and a secure job in the government. Belle and Derek are best friends and neither one are willing to kill the other, but when their circumstances change, they have a chance to fight back against the Elders that sentenced them. A Century Prior
Austin, a struggling boy who's trying to survive in a fallen economy following a third world war. Within a North Dakotan town, he has to face the challenges of taking care of his sick mother, making money through any means necessary. However, after surviving a gun shot wound that should've been fatal did Austin come to the realization of newly awakened abilities. From this newfound realization does Austin decide to start leading a double life thanks to the encouragement of a friend. During this time does he discover that there's an organization within the shadows wanting him, and all others like him, dead. Note: This is a prequel to my story Xtravaganza. That story is not a required read to understand this one, but both stories do take place within the same universe.
