She is what they call a Prime Elemental, the strongest and rarest of all the Elementals. Willow can command all of the elements around her. 

Willow and her older sister move to Beacon Hills to get away from those hunting her, The Watchmen, who want to take her powers. She meets a group of teens who welcome her and she feels safe with. While she is practicing her magic in the woods she sees someone and she runs as fast as she can. Later finds out the figure is a guy named Derek Hale, tall, dark and mysterious.
