After returning from Asgard, S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Dean Allen stays busy to keep his mind off of wondering when Thor will return. But when a very familiar enemy arrives on earth and steals an object of vast comic power, the safety of the earth is challenged. Loki's aspiration to enslave earth with an army from the far reaches of space spurs S.H.I.E.L.D. to enact the Avengers Initiative. But will this team come together...or be torn apart? Note: this is a reimagining of the first Avengers film. While there will definitely be a lot of similarities between this work and the film, there will also be departures. I've done my best to maintain the general spirit of the film while also putting a spin on things to keep it interesting. Also, Thor and the main character are in a homosexual relationship. If that's not your thing consider this a heads up. I do not own any of the Marvel Comics characters, just the original characters created for this story. In this alternate universe, Loki is sent to Midgard after the fight over the Aether. The Avengers question the Allfather's sanity, but agree they would rather have Loki where they can keep an eye on him. So, after some extensive remodeling, the Avengers Tower and neighboring facilities are now an extensive training ground with everything they'll need to reform the once proud Asgardian prince. Thor is hopeful. He wants the brother he thought Loki was back. Clint (Hawkeye) is waiting for a reason to exact some much deserved revenge. Steve (Captain America) has hope that even the most hardened of evil doers can be changed for the better. No one quite knows what Natasha (Black Widow) is thinking. Tony (Iron Man) resents having to share his tower with a psychopath. Bruce (Hulk) did not fly away to Sakar. He's brooding away in his own private wing. Scott (Antman) is under house arrest... at the tower. Wanda (Scarlet Witch) is still mourning her brother while nurturing a still very naive Vision. (Neither are living in the tower. Will only play small, fleeting parts in this story.) Dr Strange refuses to move into the tower. After all, it is more important to keep up with his work at the Sanctum. Peter (Spiderman) is spending his summer at the Tower, much to the dismay of Aunt May, who knows how dangerous this is, but does not know Loki has returned. Sam (Falcon) will follow Cap to the ends of the earth, but refuses to jump off the proverbial bridge just because Cap's doing it. Bucky (Winter Soldier) is trying to atone for his past misdeeds, while learning what exactly they were, but is living in Wakanda with T-challa (Black Panther) so neither will be playing a large role in this story. I took his hands in mine frantically, causing his eyes to meet mine. "Then hand over the Tesseract and come home, Loki. Please." "I can't." He pulled away. "If I'm not allowed rule on Asgard, then I'll rule here." My eyebrows knitted together in desperation. "Loki, pleas-" My plea was cut shot as a burst of energy and the distinctive clang of metal on metal pushed me over into the god of mischief. We stumbled backwards until I laid on his chest and he grunted from the sudden impact. "Thor." I cursed under my breath. "Sorry..." I began lifting myself off of his body. I narrowed my gaze and quickly stood to rush into Thor's aid, ignoring his dejected expression. I was about to leap off the cliff side when I heard four words that had me frozen in my place unlike anything my powers could do.
