The year is 1066 and a war is brewing. King Edward the Confessor of England has died without an heir. The Witan has declared Harold Godwinson king but many believe that they should be king. In Norway is Haraldr Sigurðsson who is called Harðraði, Hard-Ruler. In the south lies Duke William of Normandy and further in Hungary lies the former king's nearest relative, Eadgar Æþeling. All of the rulers will fight for power but war is not how the stories would tell us. War is not won by one but the sacrifice of many. One man, more of a boy, from Hrólfs-øy is dragged into this and joins the other men of Orkneyjar as they fight for their king, Haraldr Sigurðsson.
