Winter Lee Love/Rose, who's 16 and is mute and easily frightened. Lives in a foster family with her father Drake, mother Molly, and her brother Luke.
Winter was born into a loving family as an only child. When Winter was 10 her mother and father were coming home late at night and were involved in a crash which took both their lives. Winter went into the foster system. She was on her own. After 4 homes she was adopted into the Rose house. Ever since she has been abused by her father Drake, and mildly bullied at school.
Zane, a 17 year old boy, who starts going to Winter's school, gets close to her. His home is mostly a mystery except for that he doesn't seem to have a good relationship with his father.
