The damage they had done causes them to run away until the government's mutant containment police catch up with the brothers but only being able to arrest Oliver.
After 2 months of believing his twin to be dead and wandering aimlessly, Seymour receives a mental transmit from Oliver only to inform him of the horrors his brother is enduring in prison. Seymour has no choice but to join forces with Agent Sage Lamont to assemble a team of mutants that will uncover the terrible truth of the government's motive and take down the intimidating mutant warden, Libitina.

When twins Skylar and Jake were born, their scientist parents used them as an experiment. Each was injected with a dose of serum that would supposedly make them much stronger, smarter, simply better than other kids. But somebody added a chemical that changed the effects of the serum. As a result each twin got only half of the traits they were originally supposed to get. Skylar got the strength and speed while Jake got the brains. When they realized what had happened, the twins' parents immediately put them up for adoption, so neither one knew of the other. 12 years later Skylar is constantly failing all her classes, and Jake is getting bullied because he is so much weaker than other kids. But then Skylar's adoptive family decides to move across the country to find a new school for their daughter, which happens to be the school Jake goes to. They meet completely by accident. In the meantime, their parents have found a way to fix their mistake from 12 years ago -- they can make one of the twins perfect. But it requires for the other twin to give their life.
