The Dark

…People used to scream and cower when I appeared, now they don’t even have the chance, their cries dying on their lips as the light in their eyes fades and their blood runs cold. I’ve become the perfect killer, the single most dangerous person in the world, none have defeated me, only one came close and he’d never dare again, not given our particular standing on the matter.
I smiled at the thought of the man with the thick black locks and sea green eyes as if he still loved me, I doubt he could. Not anymore, not after this.
With that thought in mind I felt for the darkness coiling within my chest, deadening all feeling except hate and vengeance, the two emotions that gave me strength without having to steal, the feelings I’d lived off well over half my life.
The door at the end of the corridor stood tightly closed, challenging me to venture inside. With a cruel curl of my upper lip and a narrowing of my eyes, I pushed out an arm, as if to throw someone away from me and the solid oak door flew back off its hinges, slamming into the wall directly behind it as I strode into the room with a stormy gaze.
Time for my revenge.
