Katrian D'Lumiere is an (recently turned) 18 year old, wealthy noblewoman who lives in the village of Gévaudan, France- in 1464.

Ever since her mothers death by a monstrosity of a beast on the night of her 6th birthday; and the mysterious burning of her STONE castle that accompanied it- every year on the anniversary of that fateful night, she has been plagued by those traumatizing memories.
The forest surrounding Gévaudan has always had... an eerie aura, to it- and Fantóme de Misengarde, the token lunatic of the town, incessantly preached of his experiences with the woods; yet seemingly believed him... except, recently, Katrian.
Katrian always remembered the Beast from Hell- the one that she saw the night her mother died- yet she never hesitated to enter the woods she saw it flee to.
Katrian wants answers not only about the death of her mother, but the seemingly inexplicable supernatural occurrences arising in her town.
