Sergeant James Buchanan Barnes of the 107 Infantry Regiment, never returned home from the war. After HYDRA had recaptured him, they made it their goal to take away everyone that had ever meant something to him. Once they figured out there was no way of getting Captain America, they figured out the only person he had left was back home, and they were going to do whatever they had to in order to find her.
