In a Loop

"This place we are in is a time loop. It may not seem like it, but you are far from home. That's where it gets complicated- you're in the exact same place as your home, just not when you should be here, or how. For me to explain this scientifically, you would probably miss a lot of it. It's a complicated concept, though, so I wouldn't blame you. You've already been in this exact spot before, doing the same thing- but this time, it's different, yet also the same. You remember, don't you?"

(This overall plot could be considered a fanfiction for Undertale, but the only thing in common would be the resets. Characters and setting is all different.)
