La Esperanza Imperial cubre un periodo de 30 años de 3 mujeres de la misma familia. La historia comienza con el asesinato de lord Kawollian, padre de Ayllenia y gobernador imperial de Dantooine. Ayllenia había heredado una misteriosa enfermedad de su padre cuyo origen no se desvela hasta el tercer episodio. La protagonista de la segunda parte será su prima, Eysenna, natural de Naboo y médico militar del ejército imperial. Un destino caprichoso guiado por el mismo Darth Vader la arrastrará a degustar el amargo dolor del lado oscuro. La hija de Ayllenia, Eys, será la tercera figura principal de la obra. Aunque aparece desde niña, su papel en el destino de la galaxia no se desvelará hasta que comience la invasión de los yuuzhan vong. Sueños Rotos regresa al comienzo de la saga, unos pocos años de la destrucción de la Estrella de la Muerte, pero en esta ocasión centrándonos en Eysenna Reinhart (no confundir con Eysena "Eys" Garren, con una sola "s"), prima nativa de Naboo de lady Ayllenia Reinhart.

Chacun essayent de profiter au maximum de ces jours de répits jusqu'à ce qu'une veille connaissance d'Obi-Wan, la Duchesse Satine Kryze, l'invite à dîner avec elle. Cela fait quelque semaines qu'ils ce sont revus après une dizaine d'année de séparation et après quelque péripétie Satine avoua à Obi-Wan qu'elle l'aimait et lui déclara qu''il aurait quitté l'ordre des Jedi pour si elle lui avait dit plus tôt. Les deux furent très ébranler par ces révélations, ils espèrent alors que ce diner leur permettra de mettre les point sur les i. Cette soirée leurs permettra t-elle de mettre fin à leur relation ou bien les poussera t-elle à s'engager l'un pour l'autre ? Et si la guerre n'était pas si loin d'eux?
