Garry Lester is an astronomy teacher at the University of Minnesota. His only child, Michelle Lester, is only 6 when one day, she finds herself seeing the world in bleak black, white, and gray. She doesn't really find a problem in living with this condition and quickly adapts. However, as she grows, feelings of dread loom over her. Her father keeps taking her in to see a doctor, and at the end of their time, they whisper. She feels as if they're keeping something from her, she feels... Blind.
