Ren doesn't live a normal life any 19 year old in Shadow Ridge would. With a sick mom and working father, she takes up all the responsibilities as the eldest sibling, but also the responsibilities she needs to pick as a parent since both are very absent. Working nonstop, cooking a meal every night for herself, her three siblings, and her parents, and making sure her baby brother gets to school every day. On top of that she has a full-time job at the local outdoors gear shop. But Ren does have the same cravings as any 19 year old. Danger, adventure, and fun.... And to add to that danger, adventure, and fun, she meets Quinn and his dog, Ghost.
Quinn is a down to earth, hippy, and cocky guy, living in the town over. From acquainted strangers to almost lovers. He teaches Ren how to have fun and let go, something she can't do with all she has to worry about. He eases her mind and takes her on adventures she never thought she'd go on.
As the summer comes to an end and fall colors come into view, Ren has to decide if she'll stay in the small town she's forever known as home, or leave Quinn and start a new chapter in her life. But she can sense something coming from Quinn. In their final days together he acts out and causes chaos between them. Quinn is not himself... and to make it more confusing, he keeps telling her she needs to be ready. Ready for what?
Emma and Vivian spend their summer at a new camp to help out a friend, only to discover that it's a dating camp and they both have to pretend to be single!
*****
Emma and Vivian, having spent their first year of college living together, agree to spend their summer at Gwen Black's latest camp. Unfortunately, due to a misunderstanding (and Gwen's aggressive advertising), the entire camp is using Emma as a mascot because she's "single". Emma and Vivian decide to let the situation play out to help Gwen, finding a new thrill in keeping their love secret. Soon, though, things get out of hand as they start making each other jealous, and someone online is working to destroy their relationship (and the entire camp)! Can Emma save the camp, her reputation, and the only relationship that's ever mattered to her?
