Green Witch

She was out of control. Her energy was so powerful it seemed to burn like fire. Thick, dark vines shot up from the ground and gripped every living thing she saw. They squeezed and suffocated. A brilliant green light emerged from her essence, blinding everyone who dared to look at her. Floating above the helpless, she felt she was a powerful monster with pulsing rage and the intention to make the people writhe.

Her anger, her hatred fueled her power. It was the very energy that she gave off. She let it consumer until she was almost blind with fury. Then she heard someone... whispering.

His voice was a soothing song through the jungle of outrage. The calming demeanor seemed to dim her light. She didn't want him to take away her power, but a part of her began to nestle into the comfort of his voice. The softness of his tone made her sleepy--drained her of her energy, made her limbs shaky and numb. Her feet settled to the ground, leaving her legs to hold her spent body up from falling. All the anger turned to confusion and hurt. All the pain dragged her heart into the ground. Tears brimmed her eyes. How could anyone lover her? Stand her? How could anyone want her? She was only a burden that others had to bare. Her existence felt so small.

That's when he ran over to her, catching her from collapsing. He whispered into her ear, "It's okay. You're okay. You're alright."

She clung to his shirt and refused to let go. After everything, all she could do was sob.
