Sonic's world is shattered when a violent storm hits his home, and is seperated from his two closest friends. The storm scatters the three to unknown worlds. At the same time, there is turmoil in the Disney Castle. King Adrien is missing, and Court Wizard Tails and Captain Knuckles are out to find him. On their travels they meet Sonic, on his own search for his lost friends. The three are told of ominous creatures called Heartless, being without hearts derived from an unknown dimension and are the ones responsible for the devastating storm. The villians, enticed by the power of darkness, manipulate the Darkness to help them gather the princesses of heart, who are needed to open a mysterious final door. Upon discovering the link between the Heartless, the storm, and the disappearance of King Adrien, Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles join forces and help familiar heroes to save their worlds from the Heartless.

Seeing as the boys are always fighting, Rouge, Sticks and Amy figure it would be a great time to sit back and relax. What better way to relax than staying at a resort for a few weeks? However it's a different case for Sonic, as he isn't used to a life of relaxing, he finds it hard to adjust, as his mind is all over the place because of his hydrophobia. Weirdly, having Shadow around seemed to cool his nerves... All it took was a few days, and the two begin to grow feelings toward each other. What will stop them from getting even closer? Upon encountering Blaze, the group joins her in her quest to stop a group of villainous robots headed by Captain Whisker who desire to steal the Jeweled Scepter, which is the key to the almighty "Power of the Stars", and a treasure from her homeland.
