Brendon McLahey had never been the most focused person in the world. His mind tended to drift, and more often than not he found himself in hot water because of it. Senior year of high school, however, this difficulty reached monumental heights. Every word his teachers said went in one ear and out the other. Every homework assignment he got laid untouched in a crumpled ball at the bottom of his backpack. Even football, which in the past had been the only thing he could concentrate on, was getting harder and harder. But the one thing he couldn't shake from his thoughts was his best friend, Ian Reyes. Specifically how his eyes sparkled when he laughed, and how he bit his lip when he was studying. Brendon, who was the captain and quarterback of the football team with a beautiful girlfriend and tons of friends, didn't know how to react to these strange, new feelings. So he did the only thing that seemed reasonable-he pushed Ian away.
