She's known nothing but hardship since the age of two, when both her parents died, leaving her older brother to look after her. And it was only so long before he left too, to work for the Empire. She became a street kid, left on her own, though she found a friend and mentor in a warrior monk, who taught her how to defend herself.

Loss and hardship are synonymous with life to Ellaeo. And maybe that's why she wants so badly to fight back. To prove that there's more to life.
