he fell on me like a wave. but like a wave he washed away, leaving no sign that he had been there - louise erdich

••••••

"You don't get it do you?" I opened my mouth to answer but no words came out "I never loved you" he said with coldness in his voice.

My chest tightened as if someone just blew the air out of me.

I shook my head, "You don't mean that." smiling slightly to lighten what I feel.

"Stop joking around Cole." I laughed through the tears not wanting to believe what just left his lips.

"Shut up, Cara" His nose flared with anger and spat every word through gritted teeth "Stop being so naive and grow the fuck up"

I was taken aback by what he said that it made me step back just a little, afraid that his anger will turn into violence.

An unknown emotion glistened through his eyes but was quickly gone in a second and was replaced by his dark cold eyes.

He meant what he said.

And just like that, my Cole was gone. He was really gone.

••••••

Cara and Cole have been best friends since they were kids. They knew everything little about each other, or do they?

Because he left.

He left without even saying goodbye.

He broke her in more ways than anyone can. 2 years went by and she was finally healing and forgetting about the boy who broke her heart, but everything changed.

He's back. That son of a bitch is back.

"What are you doing here?" I ask but it comes out as a sob. I don't want him, or anyone for that matter, to see me like this. I'm a wreck. Wyatt doesn't seem to mind though. He softly brushes the remaining tears from my face with his thumb. "I saw you run out of the canteen, green eyes. I couldn't just leave you here to cry because that would go against the tutor code." "Tutor code?" I ask, puzzled. "Yes, the tutor code. It states that a student must make sure his tutor is never upset or crying and if he does ever find her like this it's his job to make her smile at any cost," he tells me. "You just made that up." "Maybe I did but that doesn't matter. Come on," he says, extending his hand out to me. "Where are we going?" "You'll see." ~*~*~ Aurora is a normal seventeen year old, happy and content with life. However, this all changes the day her boyfriend of two years, James, breaks up with her. Naturally, she's crushed. The icing on the cake is why he did it. Apparently she's 'too boring'. Determined to prove him wrong, she strikes a deal with the school's notorious bad boy, Wyatt King. She'll tutor him in maths if he teaches her to be reckless, fearless and careless. Can Aurora overcome the odds and do what she planned? Or perhaps someone will stop her on her mission to win over James. Maybe this isn't as easy as she thought it would be. Maybe she takes things a little too far. And just maybe making a deal with the bad boy isn't such a smart idea. ~*~*~ *contains mature language* #9 in high school 20/02/19 #1 in young love 14/03/19 #2 in chicklit 27/03/19 #1 in heartbreak 08/04/19 #21 in teenfiction 26/08/20 #10 in romance 26/08/20 #1 in bad boy 02/04/21

Meet Isabel. She gets along with most people, not super popular but she's not a wallflower either. Isabel doesn't need anyone else in her life not to protect her and certainly not Derek and his crew. She lives with her brother and father . They share a secret that could land them in jail. She can fight almost anyone and win, this girl kicks a$$. Yet Isabel has a past that features in her nightmares, making her afraid to sleep alone. --- "Hey?" I heard but didn't reply. "Hey!" I still didn't reply. A hand grabbed my arm and I twisted out of it on instinct. There was a glimmer of surprise in his eyes as I faced the last of the Five in the now almost empty hallway. Derek. Almost as tall as Mac. Black hair like the twins with ice cold blueish grey eyes. Same fighters build, six pack and all but not as soft as Mac or as feminine as the twins beauty. He was more rugged. I did understand the appeal of these boys but there were a lot of good looking guys on the swim team too and I did go with Jarred when he had fights. "You know we wouldn't let anyone hurt you right? Even if Jarred isn't around, we'll be here to protect you." I blinked. I blinked again. Nope, he was still standing there with the same serious expression. Derek, the unofficial leader of the Five, the boy every guy would want to be friends with and every girl would love to sleep with, was offering me his protection. I did the only thing that made sense in that situation. I burst out laughing. I was laughing so hard that I doubled over and when I glanced up at him I just cracked up again. He stood through it all without any emotion on his face, there was barely a glimmer of anger in his eyes. If anything I might have seen some surprise. I patted him on the arm and winked. "You. Are. Funny! I don't need you idiots to look out for me. But thanks for the thought." With that I quickly made my way to class.

Avery wrapped an arm around my waist to catch me before I could get out the door. He pushed me up against the door, trapping me between his body and the door. "What's wrong?" I asked innocently. His face hovered over mine, much closer than I was used to. His gaze didn't leave mine as he spoke. "It would have been different if I had told him from the start. You wanted me to lie for you. You started this. If we tell him what really happened, he would be pissed at me for lying to him." "Stormie, you got a phone call!" Mason yelled up the stairs. The closeness between Avery and me started to make my legs feel like Jell-O, and I couldn't make sense of it. Our breathing became heavier. His eyes trapped mine. "Answer him," Avery murmured. "Uh," I stammered. I cleared my throat. "Be down in a minute!" My voice came out higher than usual. My gaze still couldn't escape Avery's. My heart raced wildly as his chest rose and fell against mine. Avery's gaze flickered to my lips. What's happening? My gaze fell to his mouth, which was moving closer to mine. Stormie West is brave, kind, and young. She has a lot to learn about love, trust, lust, and heartbreak. Stormie's older brother, Mason, is brave, cocky, and a bit of an asshole. He's the wide receiver for the high school football team. Avery Prince is Mason's best friend. Avery has it all, popularity, star quarterback, and girls. "More" he demanded. "What's with the sudden interest?" Before he reacts I hastily added some joke to lighten the mood. "Knock, knock." He opens and then closed his mouth masking his surprise. "You see me, do you need glasses or something?" then his booming laughter echoed inside the library which again a loud shushed from the librarian and some nearby students hit us.
