Penelope Carter basically gave up after her grandparents death. She was closer to them, then her family. Penelope would avoid her family, friends, and relatives. That was when Penelope decided to run away and start a new life.

Newburg, South Carolina is where she ran away to. She thought everything was perfect. Living in an apartment and working at the nearest café. But, what happens when she meets a boy with a strange accent?

Maxwell Zide isn't a runaway. He simply just moved from his home country England. At first when he meets Penelope he's very rude, and always glares at her.
