"Daniel," Harleen grasped her brother's shoulders. "do you want to go to the circus?"

Ten year old Harleen Quinzel takes her younger brother to the circus one night when her parents are fighting over who knows what. At the circus she catches the eye of a certain ginger haired boy.

Five years later, 15 year old Harleen just moved from Metropolis to Gotham with her father when he is offered a job at Arkham Asylum. 

When Harleen comes to work with her father one day she meets Jerome Valeska. The teenager takes an immediate liking to Harleen. 

This story doesn't take place in any particular episode. 

I do not own any Gotham or Batman characters.

That being said, if you are not comfortable with this, then skip those parts. I will have them marked, and I will leave subtle hint, so you get the basic gist of what happened. Thank you for trying out this story. I'm sorry if the parts that are from Joker's POV are terrible, but I tried to get as close to his twisted personality as possible. It isn't exactly easy to predict what the most unpredictable character ever made would say and do. I mostly went off of the movie scenes for his character. Please be nice to each other, and no rude comments. I may have a few spelling errors, so if you let me know, I will try to get to them.
