Maisie just lost a friend. Someone who knew every square inch of her, every piece and part and thought that vibrated through her being. They had something important between them, this unspoken truth that it was more than what it was and neither could ever say it out loud. They understood each other, or at least, he understood her. The day he died, something changed with her - she couldn't count on finding his face in a crowded room anymore, or the late night music therapy he'd show her after a rough day. She knew he didn't want her to feel so empty, but she couldn't avoid it. He was the part of her that was like nothing else; he was her safe place. And she'd spent so much time submerged in his ocean, that she'd forgotten that there was life on her shore. Now, she had to get back to it - despite the wreckage that she was sure would follow wherever she ventured to next.
