For Drs.Sampson Davis , Rameck Hunt ,and George Jenkins, growing up in street tough Newark , New Jersey , was not an easy experience . They were all smart and they all had loving families, but every day they had to struggle against peer pressure ,gang violence, rampant drug use,and the challenges of being young and black. Then one day~~~while trying to skip class and shoot hoops~~~the boys found themselves listening to a special presentation about the Alton Hall University Pre-Medical/Pre-Dental. For the first time ever, the three friends believed that they might really have an opportunity to make their dreams come true .Then and there they made a pact to apply to the program, and if they were accepted to attend ~~and graduate~~together. And thats just what they did.

New to the small southern town, brown-skinned Evalyn Brown answers an ad for domestic help. Enter her new employer, the disagreeable and decidedly white William Davis, who works for the town's police department. As time progresses, their relationship to each other, their small town, and the people who inhabit it changes. In the mid-1900s in a place so easily described as backwards, change can very rapidly become a dangerous friend. x He said nothing but continued to approach, and I started backing up, my hands in front of me to create space. He advanced until I had nowhere to go, and the stories of southern Negro women being lynched, beaten, raped, and on swirled in my mind. There were some battles to fight, and this was not one of them. I just wanted to appease whatever angry beast I had stirred within him and go back to my role as his quiet housekeeper. "William, I - ." Idiot! His whispered name slipped from my mouth before I could stop it. Today was the worst possible day to mistakenly call him by his first name. I closed my eyes as tears escaped out their corners. I didn't want to watch whatever was going to happen next. "Look. At. Me." His words were a constrictor that wound around my neck and tightened. His heady, hot breath fanned over my face. I opened my eyes and peered through my tear-blurred vision. His orbs were almost black as onyx, but tumultuous and frightening. He studied me and my pulse thudded deafeningly in my ears. "I want you to stop." His voice was low and threatening.

After years of abuse at the sadistic hands of his Stepfather, Issac Carmichael had finally snapped in a haze of hatred, pain, and feelings of total helplessness. It was his driving need to get away from the abuse and torment, and a desperate attempt of self preservation he had made a choice. A life altering decision that he had no recourse but to act on it at the first given opportunity. And the penalty for that choice landed him where he was, in court standing on trial for his crime. But instead of life prison; he was deemed insane by the wonderful panel of his peers and sent off to Covington Behavioral Institute to be analyzed and treated. He was supposed to spend anywhere from 10 years to the rest of his life here and Issac thought it was better than where he was coming from. He just wanted to finally be left alone, and Issac didn't make it easy for anyone to get close to him or even speak to him. That was until Dr. Royce Covington stepped in to personally handle his case. The esteemed and world renowned Psychiatrist, and owner of the Behavioral Institute and the most beautiful man Issac has ever laid his eyes upon in all the years of his miserable messed up life. The slender man was to be his shrink, to try to figure out what made him tick, to bring him out of his shell, to find out the why behind his murderous act, and to treat his self destructive behavior. Read the difficult journey of these two, the compassionate Doctor and the unwilling Patient.
