Jc Caylen is known worldwide and to most girls, he's a complete hottie who stole their heart, swooning them through a computer screen, but to Rose Freyheart, he is nothing more than another random YouTuber selling pointless merchandise to young, naive girls.
But when one day Rose gets lost in Times Square on New Year's eve, stranded from her best friend with a dead phone and no money, and she sees him. Jc Caylen. With no other option, she approaches him to ask for a cab ride home.
"Hi, I'm Rose. I know this is annoying but-" Rose started.
"You want a picture? Yah of course."
Rose chuckles. "No, actually I was wondering if you could pay for my cab home? I've lost my best friend and my phones flat."
"Oh, shit sorry I thought you were a fan. Are you? That's besides the point. Yeah no problem. What's the name of your hotel?"
"Well, thats the other thing. I don't exactly know. All the information was in my wallet which my friend, Kaylie, had."
"That's fine. I'm supposed to be meeting Kian, Trevor, Sam and Ricky at my hotel room anyway so you can come charge your phone and call your friend. Plus that means i get to spend time with a pretty girl. Win win for me."
He's cute, she thought to herself, but I don't see what all the fuss is about.
Almost as if reading her mind Jc said "you know what makes you cool? The fact you aren't all over me. You talk to me like i'm a normal human, which I am. Thanks." He smiled at her and much to Rose's surprise a couple butterfly's perked up in her stomach. She didn't know whether it was that she had had too much to drink or whether she was devolving a crush, but tonight was gonna be interesting either way.
"Do you remember calling me 'mate?'" he asked softly, pushing her wild curls away from her face.
She blushed deeply, but he wouldn't let her look away. "You heard that?"
He nodded with a smile. "It was the first thought she ever shared with me."
Skylar pursed her lips. "She likes you very much."
"What about you?" he teased gently. "How do you feel about me?"
She set her jaw and once again managed to look down her nose at him while staring up at him. "Well... well, I'm rather fond of you, Orion."
He let out a relieved laugh and pulled her into his chest again. "What a relief. I was worried it was just me." He nuzzled her temple, inhaling deeply, his dragon fully at peace. The words "I love you" were right on the tip of his tongue, but he knew it was too soon for that. He would have to hold them in just a little while longer. "I'm fond of you, too," he whispered in her ear.
