Sparrow is not the same as everyone else. She can't be, even if she tried. And she's tried. She looks different. She acts different. She even thinks differently. She wants to know why she is who she is. And why she has strange abilities. Sparrow only trusts her dead father and only fights with her very much alive mother. After sixteen years of her own miserable existence, she meets someone. Someone like her. Someone who's different, but the same. And he has questions too. And he has answers too. And he's rich. So that's a plus. After a painful kind of-kidnapping, Sparrow finally realizes that's she's not alone in this world. Together, they attempt to discover the reason why they are who they are.

For centuries, the small village of Asra has been haunted by a beast of the forest. The beast would come every night and ravish the village. Fifteen years ago, villagers came up with this idea to offer the beast yearly sacrifices of 18 year old virgins. Raven is the village orphan. She is an outcast in the village. She never knew her parents. Her mother was murdered by the villagers and her father is an unknown man. After years of abuse from the villagers she ran away. She went into the deepest part of the forest. There she met the beast. Raven wasn't scared of him. Instead she was intrigued. The beast thought the child was insane. She came every day to see him, chattering about nothing important. Over time he started to warm up to her. Through the years they developed a sort of friendship. But what will the two do when on her eighteenth birthday, the village priest decides that Raven would be the sacrifice for that year? Will the beast kill his friend like he did the others? Or will he free her? ~~~~~~
