24-year-old Merritt Greene was your typical music nerd. She's nearly taken all the classes she needs to be a composer, almost graduated with a Bachelors in Music Comp, and was ready to take on the world. After moving from her cute little home in Brighton to London, England, Merritt finds every venue she can to get her music heard. Enter Dan Howell, 25-year-old YouTube sensation who drags his best friend Phil to a show for inspiration, but ended up getting a little more than he bargained for: a brilliant composer with only four senses. Can Dan find his way to Merritt's heart through more than just words? Find out in When Senses Fail, Music Speaks.

DISCLAIMER: This story is mature because it will have some self harm in it. It will also have some swearing due to that's how Dan actually talks. This is not about Phan being real. I'm sorry to disappoint you. Now onto what it is really about: Dan Howell is becoming more and more depressed. His family, his community, not even his best friend, Phil Lester, can help him. He believes he's a lost cause, and he's a mistake. He tries to hide it best he can, but some nights, it's just too much. During this, he's lost his will to smile. He'll fake smiles for videos and pictures, but he's lost a reason to genuinely smile.
