I looked away from Armaan when I heard someone say, "Hey man, check this thing out" and chuckle.
I turned to see two guys eyeing my niqab. "Why do you have to wear this? Are you ugly?" One of them spoke, partly making fun of me.
"I bet she's oppressed" the other smirked.
"Excuse me? What makes you think that? Covering myself is my and many women's own choice" I spoke, honestly finding their conclusion stupid.
"I bet you want us to pull it off."
They didn't wait for a reply and tried pulling my niqab off of my face.
I protested as they strangled me and looked around for help when I saw Armaan staring at us wide-eyed.
Seeing as he was my husband, I expected him to throw some punches and teach some lessons but to my utter disappointment, he just turned and walked off. Tears burned in my eyes.
And here I thought he had started to like me.
