"Why did you become a pirate?" The drink slowly slipped out of Leonardo's hands and onto the wooden deck, spilling it's contents everywhere. He scoffed. "Why do birds sing, why do trees bare fruit, why do lovers make-" "Okay, I get it," Terra pulled her knees to her chest, listening to the creaking of the ship beneath her. "You want the real reason lassie?" Terra nodded vigorously. Leonardo's eyes scrutinized her face, morphing into a hardened stare. A stare Terra had never seen before. "I became a pirate because I thought that a life of adventure would numb the hole in here," he pointed a ringed finger towards his chest. Terra blinked a few times before she caught Leonardo's gaze. "And did it help?" Leonardo leaned backwards, a gurgled sigh escaping his lips. "No. It didn't and never will." After a few moments of silence, Terra drummed her fingers nervously against her knees. "What...what caused the hole?" Captain Leo slumped forwards, pushing the empty rum bottle away from him. "I lost something very dear to me. And you know wha's even worse?" he cocked his head sideways, the moisture in his eyes building. "You look just like her."
