Kuroko disappeared after being captured by a gang and was tortured for four years until Aomine and Akashi found him. Why? Because the leader of the gang has a grudge against Akashi. Kuroko isn't the same as he once was. He's lost his memories of everything prior to the last four years and knows only fear. He doesn't even remember who Akashi is!
To make matters worse, the gang is after him and Akashi and determined to kill both of them.
