It's the 1960's and equality is sweeping the nation.  However, not every small town in the Deep South is ready for such radical change.  Jade Gentry is an attractive 17 year old girl growing up in rural Mississippi.  After her faith-filled mother dies of Cancer, Jade's alcoholic Father goes to AA where he meets Veronica, a new woman who quickly becomes a drinking buddy and more. Jade's already drama filled life gets even worse.  Her older brother, Johnny moves to Kansas to live with their uncle, leaving Jade alone to deal with her daddy's addiction. The consequences are life shattering. She is violated by one of her daddy's drunken friends, which sends her life into a downward spiral.    Meet a colorful cast of characters, including kindly Miss Ellen, who is Jade's neighbor and protector, Renée a peculiar woman  who sings and shouts, and a school teacher who just might be the one to help with "Polishing Jade".All Rights Reserved

After about 2 and a half years of dealing with this Alpha Dominic someone whisks her away again as her second mate as she was rejected before. They have their ups and downs but nothing is compared to what they have in stored, the new roller coaster they must ride to have a happily ever after, if you can call it that. I know the book starts slow, that's how I wanted it to be, to build to the exciting parts. It may be a drag, I know but it'll be worth it when the book speeds up with the roller coaster that Harmony has to ride, so to speak. Give it time and it'll spike your interest.
