Princess Hang Li Poh was the fifth wife of Malaccan Sultan Mansur Shah (reigned 1456-1477). She was supposedly given by Ming China to the Sultan, but it is disputed whether Hang Li Po ever existed since she was never recorded in Ming Dynasty records. In the current era, wealthy merchant Khoo Chong Seng purchases a derelict mansion on Jalan Puteri Hang Li Poh (Princess Hang Li Poh Road) and sets about having it restored. On her first visit with her family, Chong Seng's daughter Ming-huá, while exploring the derelict mansion, finds that the place is occupied. While exploring the rooms, she meets the 500 year old Princess Hang Li Poh. She is the only member of the family who does so and is commissioned by the Princess to release her from captivity within the mansion. This proves not to be a simple task.
