Kerri was just a normal teenager with maybe a little worse than normal home life, and an ok but dull school life. That is, until she one day develops an interesting problem. She gains mutant powers, and her appearance starts changing randomly with her emotions. Now she has to try and keep those under a tighter lock than before, because mutant hysteria has hit her town, and she went from an unknown quiet bookworm to the topic on everybody's tongue. Then it really hits the fan at home and she has to leave before it gets worse. Luckily, Professor Charles Xavier finds her and saves her from the streets before something unthinkable can happen to her. Unfortunately it took him a year to find her and she's withdrawn from the world, and isn't used to socializing with humans anymore. And then there's Kurt, code name Nightcrawler. He's a mutant too, and has been treated differently his whole life because of the way he looks.
