Coming back from a meditative trip over the Sacred Sea, Kya found that the bustling and bright Island she lives on was desolate. Not a soul could be found: no bodies, no injured, and most distressingly, no indication as to what happened-- or where the good elves and humans could be. Alone she set off to seek Jasper, a grim half-elf seer, whose mysterious exploits often led him away from the Island-- as they did only shortly before Kya set off herself-- to recover the lost. With the help of a travel-weary, forlorn man named Nicholai whom she meets in a riotous tavern town (and whose estranged wife is among the missing) and the roving Jasper, Kya embarks on a wild, harrowing quest across a land filled with peril to seek and save the vanished peoples of the island, preserve the magic of the Sacred Birch, and learn for herself the feats that love can accomplish.
