Overly-emotional Owen Niccals isn't the person you would expect to be pulling pints behind a bar but yet he does and does a good job of it too. He works as a placement in different pubs around the country for months on end to save up for university and a decent car. Things take an unexpected turn for Owen when he is sent to a place from his past which sparks up a lost friendship. As that friendship evolves into a romance Owen will have to face more struggles than just difficult customers.
Elijah is surviving though the last year of high school the only way he knows how. By working hard, hiding his obsessive compulsive disorder, and keeping social interaction to a minimum. His plan was working until a certain Ryan Stone, the most feared boy in school, decides he needs Elijah's help to pass his English class.
As they get to know more about one another, an unlikely friendship develops and feelings start to emerge that neither were prepared for. Indifference may have been the theme of the English project that brought them together, but it also might very well be the thing that tears them apart too.
