-The searing pain shot from my neck to my toes and circled right back up where it settled behind my eyes. Surely it would've been less painful to burn alive. A scream sounded loudly into the cold, dark room but I wasn't sure that it was mine.-

Alexander Crouse is ending his year with a piece of whiny crap stuffed into a sparkly dress that is three sizes too small for her. He's lectured about not being a "sparkly" vampire for prom. When the dance is finally over, he drops her a block from her house--sick of all the complaining--and speeds to his own house. A warm welcome from his parents is followed by an interrogation so they can hear about everything that happened--and more importantly, why he didn't bring her home. He manages to convince them that he needs his rest, and slips into his room. On his computer is a strange message from a "Tester134." He disregards it and finds himself in trouble the next day.

Senior year is over. Alexander made it through, surprisingly. He's still not sure where to go with his life, but he begins filling out college applications. Late one night, he receives another message from "Tester 134" and blocks the user. Fear is finally staring to creep into his 'peaceful' life. To calm his nerves, he makes a run to the nearby convenience store where all heck breaks loose.
