Saving Rilen

Friends may come and go but family is forever. I wonder who actually said that. I always hear it, everyone always tells me how lucky I am to have such a wonderful family that loves me. But do they? It seems to me that friends come and go but family will stab you in the back. I used to believe them, those people who said I had the perfect family. I used to think I had the most perfect family in the world. A loving but stern father, a caring an kind mother, a protective and annoying older brother, and my other half, my twin. I never thought I would end up with four knives in my back by those who were supposed to love me forever. I never thought I would be that kid who ran away, always looking back, with no one chasing after me. Most importantly, I never imagined I would have to go back and face them all. Yet here I am, on my way to the bus station, to buy a ticket to the place I no longer call home.

Its been 3 years since Rilen Baker has been home. After a night she'll never forget, a day of confessions and confrontations, and her family's betrayal, Rilen left Avon with the goal of never returning. As junior in college, Rilen was finally starting to piece her life back together, learning to be happy and let people in. She lived at school and found a job working as a lifeguard at the Cape during the summer, never having to step foot in that town ever again. But once her again her life gets flipped upside down after she receives a frantic phone call from her mother begging her to come back. Of course Rilen can't refuse, even after her family turned their backs on her, she still loved them, so she buys a one way ticket back to Avon. Heading into the eye of the storm, Rilen isn't quite prepared to face her past after its taken her so long to forget it. Is she ready to face the man who ruined her life and the family that turned their backs when she needed them most? Can the boy from the bus help her to learn to forgive and love again?
