Lena Blackwater's uncle has just died, leaving her the entire Blackwater estate. At first she's elated. She had always loved Blackwater! But after her first night there, her opinion of Blackwater changes - and not for the better. She sees a young boy standing at the edge of Blackwater Lake. Then, he suddenly vanishes. At first, Lena dismisses it as a hallucination. But then she begins to see the same boy in other places; the kitchen, the master bedroom, the library, etc. She begins to wonder whether Blackwater may be haunted. She goes into town to ask around for information on Blackwater. One man, the carpenter George Henderson, tells her that a young boy was murdered by pirates in the 1600s at Blackwater Lake, when pirates had invaded. The boy's ghost - a demon - had wandered the estate ever since, killing off the Blackwater heirs, as the pirate Henry Blackwater had killed him. Lena, frightened, searches her library, where she finds a book about the history of Blackwater, where George's claims are confirmed. Now, she's trapped in Blackwater. Will she ever escape, or will her life end very abruptly?
