For years of its history, Humanity is convinced the universe revolves around them. That is not the case by the year 2304 CE. The domain of Humans is just a small scab in the Milky Way, a mere pawn among aliens who monopolize the galactic politics.

Humans are divided by many factions. The two greatest of them all, the Earth United Command and the Strategic Asian Defense Iniative, continually push for winning the favour of humans' weak population. Another faction, the Galactic Roman Empire, is starting to establish its presence.

This all means nothing for Galactic Roman Legionnaire Tiberio Pelagius who is an even smaller pawn. Two years ago, he was the center of attention in Humanity for carrying out an assasination. That was over, and now Tiber fights as a common grunt on the frontlines for the Empire. If he dies, he'll be a meaningless name on a casualty list.

A peculiar visit to him will steer his path to the focus of Imperial politics....and war.

The novel started as a short story that was submitted to a writing contest (didn't win). It is very loosely based upon the Babylon 5 Universe (telepaths, shadows, plethora of different races, etc.). I still continued to think about the story and how it ended without a final resolution (though the story did have an ending, it left a lot of questions about the protagonist). Thanks to the obsession and compulsion I have with writing (it's a blessing and a curse) I decided to continue the story to final resolution. This is it. A race called the Chitoxan came from an unknown area of space and declared war on the races making up the Earth-Alliance. More technically advanced than the races they encounter, the overwhelming power of the shadow vessels results in most battles ending in complete defeat for the Earth-Alliance. Only by massing fire on an individual shadow vessel or, in extremely desperate situations, committing suicide with a ship's reactor overload, can a shadow vessel be defeated. Earth and Earth-alliance colonies are slowly being conquered and occupied by Chitoxa. The humans on these occupied colonies are enslaved and forced to serve the Chitoxan's every need. A young man volunteers for the Space Marines during the Chitoxan war. Upon induction, he discovers that he is 'blessed' with unique abilities. However, these abilities cause his life to be changed drastically and terribly. He is taken away and forced into a never-ending nightmare. After a quick and violent encounter between Earth and Chitoxa, another Earth fleet is beaten and is almost wiped out. The surviving ship gets a lucky shot at an attacking shadow vessel, slicing off one of its appendages. The pain and shock of the loss does something to the human controller of the battle crab....

Six hundred years into mankind’s unexpected exodus from Earth’s solar system due to a prematurely exploding sun, humanoid species have spread far and wide to form a trans-galactic empire. This is in part due to the pioneering genius of Frakas and his bioengineering prowess which allows humanoids to accommodate to new planets readily. It is also secondary to special pod ships and spirit ships left behind by long dead civilizations that allow for teleportation across massive chasms of spacetime. But the empire is torn. War rages in four sectors. The wargods governing each sector want to unite the entire kingdom under one banner, theirs. But each of the sectors has unique challenges and pitfalls that stymie the other warlords, maintaining a stalemate seemingly without end. Enter Raikin and his entourage of followers. In his teens, he is the youngest of the hundred year men to intervene in celestial matters, and he may also have his hands the most full. Will he and his followers be enough to upset the stalemate and bring peace to the universe? Or will the intense fusion of cutting edge science and magic he introduces to the equation simply spread these battles beyond this universe into parallel universes, and the multiverse as a whole? More ominous still, there appears to be outside forces influencing matters in the four sectors beyond anyone’s knowledge or ability to grasp. Some of the tech bequeathed to them by long dead civilizations may have a life and a mind of its own, begging the question, are these distant parties relegated to history, or just to a dimension beyond their current reach?
