I was fully aware that what I was doing went against what my brain was screaming at me to do, but it was human instinct. When your heart takes over, you forget that you even have a brain and it makes you do stupid things that you'll only regret later on. The heart was a complicated organ and I wondered whether or not it was just used for pumping blood around our bodies. It started at one party, like it didn't actually mean much at the time. He was standing alone: I was surrounded by drunken idiots so it sounded perfect, didn't it? Even if I messed up, I could have just blamed it on the atmosphere and flicked it off. Simple as that. I had to find him again. I had to get to know him, see if we were compatible. Like, if our pieces fit together. I mean, he was too good looking to not want to go after. He was friendly and although not perfect, he seemed it to me at the time. Florence Daniels embarks on her quest to win Joey's heart. He's sneaky, mysterious and gets on her nerves. But what if another guy came into the picture too? What would that do to her? Will she actually end up in love with Joey? What will their final decision be? Find out in Runaway Man.

"Would you like to dance?" the boy asks me. I stare deep into his blue eyes, but I can't figure out who he is. He's tall with dark hair and the brightest blue eyes I've ever seen. I know everyone at this school, but with his features hidden behind his mask I can't tell who he is. "Sure, I would love to." Did I just say that? I agreed to dance with a random boy who I don't know. He takes my hand and leads me to the dance floor. We dance for a few songs and then he asks me, "Would you like to take a walk? I know the perfect place." I nod and he pulls me behind him off the dance floor. We leave the hotel and start walking down a little path. At the end of the path I notice a little fountain surrounded by candles. I wonder if he set this up. We walk over to the fountain and we sit down on the edge. "I had a wonderful time tonight," says the guy. He reaches to his face and removes his mask. I recognize him immediately.
