"I'm sorry Joan, but your test scores haven't been high enough to achieve the levels to get your diploma" Mr. O'Haire said with compassion towards my situation. Steven was always a father figure for me throughout middle and high school. "Unless you can ease you grades to at least a B-" 

"How am I supposed to do that on my own, Steven?" I enquired playing with the rings on my fingers. "You know I don't have a long enough attention span to study"

"I know that Jo, that why I have another option for you" Steven said with a wicked grin on his face.
