On Mauitoto, a small island isolated in the center of the relentless Pacific Ocean, there lives a young girl. Her village is dying, a plague struck over them when conquistadors of the New Age came to her island in search for the precious gem, found only on their island. They extracted the jewels, left their island and their white men diseases cursed her entire home to die. When another ship comes to the island, Senna is ready.

Two years after Moana returns to Motunui, her life seems to have gone back to what it was before Te Fiti. Chiefly duties outweigh the calling of the sea, Maui has been gone for what seems like ages, and Moana's unhappiness returns, but is now self inflicted. However, destiny has big plans for its 'Little Ocean'. After swallowing one of Auahitūroa's (God of Comets) stars by accident, Tangaroa (God of the Sea) gives his heart to the Ocean so it will be protected from Auahitūroa's wrath. Somehow (but not really a mystery) Moana comes across the heart on the shores of Motunui. It unfortunately comes with a few consequences, including a new relationship with the water, conscious tattoos which come from nowhere and Moana's new status as a Demigoddess of the Great Ocean, and half-daughter of Tangaroa. What could possibly go wrong?
