Everyone knows that Raine Parker and Noah Rees are responsible for the disappearance of Caper Lawrence. The night she went missing, well, there was no mistaken those two had been responsible for her three year absence. Some claim they took her to the North Woods were she was eaten by the God Trees, other say that they she was left in an underground cellar to rot, and many will testify that she is in fact dead.
However, three years later since the disappearance of one of her best friends, Raine has moved on. It's behind her, buried in the past. She can't explain it, no matter how many people ask. The truth, the lies, the deceit; it doesn't exist in her eyes. What happened to Caper was unfortunate. That's all it was.
But when the wolves start to die off in the trees, eaten alive by unknown shadows, and the forest grows cold and decrepit, the people of Ravenwood start to grow suspicious. The fear creeps in. And it doesn't help that a mysterious newcomer at Ravenwood prep academy with eyes of a predator cant seem to take their gaze off of her.
Raine doesn't bite. She never has. But Noah is all she has and the townspeople of Ravenwood creep along with knives behind their back. Who can she trust?
Noah? Her family? The newcomers? Or the dead girl with footprints leading away in the forest where to dead to go prey away the darkness?
