Entry for Fanfiction contest "Love on Ice"
Based off the book "The Selection"
America Schreave was once America Singer until after the Selection, where she had to compete for the prince's eyes. Yet, she didn't want them on her.
At all.
She wanted to go home, to her family. Her sisters, brother, mother...and her deceased dad.
Soon, she fell in love with him. Loved him to the ends of the earth but she also loved someone from her past, who was now a trusted guard. Who did she go for? Check out the book written by Kiera Cass.

Ever since the Selection ended and America won, their life was everything but normal. The casts were gone but the riots were getting bad. Horrible even. Maxon was injured and his father dead, making him king instantly.
But that didn't stop the two.
It was December.
Maxon appeased his citizens for the time being, so the couple could escape, buy a another home, hold each other by the fire, and steal kisses from each other. That would be awesome right?
If only it worked that way for royals.

But one day...she crashed down in front of Aspen. She poured out all of her emotions towards him. She knew she shouldn't, but she did anyway. As America and Aspen spend more time with each other, memories start to flow through America's mind. Happy delicate memories of her and Aspen ever since she knew him. She realized how much she pushed him way during The Selection, so she decided to apologize to him. Two weeks before the wedding, the Southern Rebels attacked and Aspen got shot near to the heart right in front of her eyes. She thought he would die right in her arms, that's when she realized she still loves him. She ponders about whether it's right or wrong to feel this way. A week later, Maxon realizes he made the worst mistake in his life. He tries to pursue America, but it only puts her through more emotional pain. Previously known as 'my selection' in the books it's maxons selection but what if it was the other way around? in this story, it's America's selection. (ik in the heir it's said eadlyn had the first girl selection but I'mma change that and alot of things so just know I'll break some rules from the books) America's parents didn't want to marry off her to get allegiance but they think she should be a queen. so when she turns 17 they suggest the idea of a selection for her. maxon is a five and a photographer. he's has always thought that the princess was really beautiful with her icy blue eyes and red hair like roses and honey and the sun.
