Cassie Hunter is the niece of Trace Adkins and Reba McEntire. When Cassie's father, Tracey Keith Hunter, passes away from the war, Reba gains full custody of Cassie, but when Reba's schedule becomes too busy, she hands things over to Trace. While living with Trace, Cassie is able to go on the road with Trace, but when she becomes a teenager, Cassie is sent to Louisiana to live with Trace's parents. The moment she graduates, Cassie moves back up to Nashville, and signs with Broken Bow Records as a songwriter. After nine years of her uncle pestering her to become a singer, she updates her title from songwriter, to singer-songwriter. When Cassie starts singing, she gets the chance to go back out on the road with her uncle, but with an unlikely friend.
