Be not afraid.

But have no doubt.

There are monsters prowling about.

♱ ❁ ♱ ❁ ♱

An eye for an eye. Blood for blood. It is vengeance that was once promised; and vengeance will be had.

On the eve of a frosty Christmas, a demon comes.
She could suppose her luck would bring such a turn of events, though suspension from Catholic school had been the worst news the week before.

Debbie Barnes, a once burdened child made to feel like a burden herself, is suddenly cast into a web of secrets, and a world obscured from the one she's always known, in which monsters and demons and critters aren't just on the pages of a storybook. The debts of a man she has never known are hers to inherit and for that, she must die.

Her flesh and blood, a sacrifice to find the very man whose life flows through her veins, to finally end the legend that was once the most dreaded hunter of their time.

But these demons from a past she does not even know aren't the only ones seeking revenge.

In their world of hate, a family is found.

The world is dying. Heaven and Hell have broken and collapsed, creating a post-apocalyptic landscape that is part purgatory, part platonic world of ideas, blighted by the horrors of the human mind. The sun lies dormant in the east, atop God's tower, while the west is plunged into darkness and haunted by all that lives there. There is no day and night cycle, nothing grows, nothing dies, nothing changes, unless magic is involved. Angels hunt creatures for their blood, to feed it to God so he can finish gestating. Demons kill and destroy aimlessly, their origins inexplicable and unknown. Stranger beings wander the ruins of what's left of the world. Humans need not eat or sleep, caught in a state between life and death. They cannot die or be born naturally, but they can be killed and they can be made. The few that survived with their sanity somewhat intact have locked themselves into warded cities, but their protections are feeble and often ineffective. The Order that united them is long gone, broken into factions known only by the sins for which they have fallen. The Houses that protected them are crumbling, falling into ruin as their members were culled down by angels and demons, as well as their own mad quest to save the world; the Pilgrimage, a vain attempt to steal into Eden and murder God himself. Soon, only the Scions will remain. Those that were left not due to merit, but because they were the last choice for being heroes. Those whose memories and minds are as damaged and eaten through as their world. Those who agreed to take on the mysterious Archons within their bodies and, through that contract, had ancient relics and rituals passed down to them. They converge onto a long forgotten neutral ground, trying to save themselves. A heroic journey through a nightmarish wonderland. A pilgrimage to God's tower, to make the world whole again. To cleanse the world of the horrors infecting it. To kill the God who will doom them all with his birth.

"The wolf desires to kill us before the demons even have a chance," Lily muttered beside me. My eyes flickered from the Crusader standing before us to his dire wolf. The beast wove through the mass of recruits, salivating, his silver eyes roving over each one like we were to be his next meal. "The second trial is upon us," thundered Desmond Castiel, his fingertips crackling with impatient flames. "I won't repeat myself again. Refrain from making eye contact with the demons, and do not be foolish enough to converse with them." His narrowed eyes settled on me, a warning glinting in their depths. I shrank further into my cloak. "Our purpose here is to hunt. Should you attempt to flee, the horde will surely tear you apart, ribbon by ribbon. Fear will lead to your demise unless you wield your faith as the armor it is. Am I making myself clear?" Omen towered over the Crusader now, ears pricked, nose twitching. The wolf knew. We all did. The damned were close. A shared glance with Lily conveyed our unspoken vow-we were in this together, come hell or high water. And by the looks of it, hell was just around the corner. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Everly Greywood has spent years battling what she believed to be schizophrenia, haunted by visions of terrifying creatures no one else can see. Just when she feels on the brink of losing her sanity, she's whisked away to a mystical spirit world where the truth becomes clear: the demons are real and so is God.

The muddy water splattered everywhere as the twelve year old girl's feet thudded in the filthy puddles, across the deserted roads. The night wrapped itself around the fragile soul, trying to protect it from the evil. Her soft sobs bounced off the darkness surrounding her. Running faster, the girl made her way onto a dimly lit street with run down houses planted either side. The area was evidently the sort of place where a little child should never roam. When twelve year old Tamara Rose is attacked by demons, and her family is ruthlessly killed in front of her own eyes, she gets thrown into a wild, unknown world of hunting and magic. Five years later, she comes face to face with someone who she had thought was dead. And that person was trying to raise hell. Literally.
