The Force Awakens raised several questions as to what had happened in the preceding 30 years, including what can have happened to separate Han and Princess Leia. I wrote this short story to depict one theory (although I have several) that may have put strain on this long suffering couple.
The characters depicted in this short story belong to Disney/Lucasfilm and also to Claudia Gray (author of Bloodline). The idea is owned by myself.

People always wonder what it would be like if Anakin hadn't turned to the dark side. If he had just let Palpatine die at the hand of Mace Windu. If he had gone on to raise Luke and Leia with Padme. But what would really happen? Over thirty years after the first Death Star was destroyed, the Skywalker twins are raising their own children. Leia has married Han Solo and is thriving as the Chief of State of the New Republic with her three children: Jacen, Jaina, and Anakin. Luke has married Mara Jade, the former hand of the Emporer, and when he's not training the next generation of Jedi on Yavin 4, he's being a father to his kids, Ben and Amidala. Now, thirty years after the death of Anakin Skywalker, Luke and Leia have the chance to change everything. Stop their father from becoming Darth Vader, stop the destruction of Alderaan and so many other people at the hands of the Empire. But at what cost? "A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away...sithence" Sithence (adv.): since then, or thereupon I do feel like this is the best word for my descriptive purposes...he was once a child, but sithence grew into a man. He was a jedi knight, but sithence became that of the sith. He was once part of a family, but sithence only saw from a mask. He was once loved, but sithence is dead. His life was that of an endless transition in regards to emotional turmoil: a continual struggle between the light and the dark. And though the dark was far more powerful in entity, a brighter light was looking for the Chosen One. Theodora Lema is just one step on that journey, a step back from his darkened past and one towards the desired light of home. It was a miracle to the ancestry of the man once lost to the night, pressured by the black and stars alike.
